About three years ago, Rockie and Naeja began working at the Community Art Center through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment program, where their friendship sprouted. In the following years, they’ve demonstrated a great passion for art and have contributed to the welcoming nature of CAC through the development of many relationships. They’ve been able to work diligently while simultaneously enhancing their creativity and leadership skills by collaborating with others to tend to numerous projects around the city of Cambridge. This includes murals they’ve designed in the Port neighborhood, Kendall Square, and Alewife. Not only did they work on various projects throughout the summer, but they also led several art workshops at the Urban Park Rooftop for residents of all ages. This varied from painting, printmaking, bookmark making, collage activities, etc. These two continue to assist and showcase their talents as current teen volunteers at the Art Center.

About Community Art Center
Founded in 1937, the Community Art Center is a neighborhood institution committed to our mission: to cultivate an engaged community of youth whose powerful artistic voices transform their lives, their neighborhoods, and their worlds.
The Art Center has established an excellent track record of providing creative and challenging learning opportunities to youth. We aim to develop the next generation of civically engaged, community-minded leaders, and problem-solvers.
Community Art Center achieves our mission through intensive, year-round activities for youth ages 5-19 and through youth-led Community Programming that engages local and national audiences in quality artistic experiences:
Youth ages 5-12 participate in the School Age Child Care Program (SACC) and become creative problem solvers through a hands-on arts curriculum. Youth ages 13-19 enter the Teen Media Program and become digital creators and storytellers rather than just consumers. Or Teens can opt to participate in the Teen Public Art Program, where they gain hands-on experience facilitating civic engagement with community members as they conceptualize, design & execute public art projects. Our murals can be seen all over Cambridge!
