To all theatre loversI’m delighted to announce that BTW are back (though we never really went away) and we look forward to meeting all those with a love of theatre and who would like to take part in our lively programme of plays, workshops and readings.
I’m particularly pleased to tell you that we have been welcomed by the Guildhall in Bury St Edmunds where we shall be presenting two shows a year, in spring and autumn. These will kick off with the spooky but very charming play Mary Rose by JM Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan. This will be performed 27 February to 1 March. After that we’ll be getting straight on with Shakespeare in the Park, the 2025 production being As You Like It (performances 22 to 26 July) and then the autumn production, yet to be decided upon.
To get everyone together, and especially to welcome new members, we’re holding a BTW Re-Ignited session on Monday 25 November in the Tudor Kitchen of the Guildhall, 7.30 pm. We’re looking for actors to play the many and various parts in both these upcoming productions but we’re particularly keen to get Mary Rose under way as soon as possible. So if you’d like to take part, and you’re over 16, please do come along so that we can meet you. No scary audition stuff, I promise, but there will be tea, and possibly even cake.
Details of the plays and the Re-Ignition session are on the website.
Not everyone can be in a play all of the time so to keep you all involved and connected we’ll be holding fortnightly play readings in the Tudor Kitchen through 2025. This will help us decide what plays you’d like to produce and improve our knowledge and understanding of theatre generally. They will also provide opportunities for people new to theatre to come and see if it is something for them. Some of these sessions may be more workshop-like when the opportunities arise but they will always be very stimulating and enjoyable with no pressure or expectations placed on anyone. Very conveniently, the Tudor Kitchen entrance is right opposite the Mason’s Arms should anyone wish to continue theatrical musings afterwards…
I’m very excited about what will be a great year of theatre ahead and of course meeting all of you that are interested in doing this with us. See you on the 25th or get in touch if you can’t make it but still want to take part. I look forward to working with you!
Regards
