Join the British Society for the History of Maths for a trip to two excellent museums in the history of computing and mathematics.
Bletchley Park was once the top-secret home of the World War Two Codebreakers, where mathematicians, engineers, and linguists worked together to decrypt enemy intelligence. It is now a vibrant museum, sharing the stories that were kept secret for decades through interactive exhibitions. Find out more.
Next door, The National Museum of Computing is home to the world's largest collection of functional historic computers, where visitors can explore British computing heritage from the 1940s to today. See a rebuild of Colossus, the world's first electronic computer, and enjoy your favourite retro PC and arcade video games. Find out more.
The ticket price for this event includes entry to both museums, and a guided tour of Bletchley Park in the morning. We will meet outside Bletchley Park Museum at 10am, and after the guided tour guests will be free to explore at their leisure. We will then reconvene nextdoor at TNMOC at 2pm.
Lunch is not included, but both museums have cafes where you can purchase food and space where you can eat a packed lunch.
The museums are located a short walk from Bletchley train station, which has excellent rail links to London (and possibly Oxford by the time of the event). There is also plenty of on-site parking.
