- "The Lark ascending" de Vaughan Williams >
pièce considérée comme révolutionnaire dans les années qui ont suivi sa composition, en raison de son flux rythmique et de son imagerie musicale : le violon solo est l'oiseau chanteur et l'orchestre est le paysage vallonné qui s'étend sous lui., une œuvre de jeunesse brillante et virtuose).
- "Tzigane" de M. Ravel >
« À l’intention de notre amie, qui joue si aisément, vous m’avez convaincu de composer un petit morceau dont la difficulté diabolique fera revivre la Hongrie de mes rêves et, puisque ce sera du violon, pourquoi n’appellerions-nous pas cela Tzigane ? » C’est ainsi que Ravel informe Bartók de son intention d’écrire une cette pièce. Pourtant, pas de mélodie authentique dans Tzigane, Ravel créé une sorte d'exotisme populaire « dans le style de… » même s’il emploie des modes et rythmes traditionnels, des changements de vitesse impétueux.
En seconde partie, vous pourrez entendre la Symphonie n°5 de Jean Sibelius > Sibelius a célébré ses 50 ans en 1915 avec la création de sa Cinquième Symphonie. Or, le compositeur n’était pas content du résultat et il a commencé à retravailler l’œuvre. L’œuvre révisée a été créée en 1919. Après les révisions, la symphonie comptait trois mouvements au lieu des quatre mouvements habituels. Elle fut créée le 24 novembre 1919, et Sibelius dut finalement être profondément satisfait, surtout s'il se rappelait les mots qu'il avait inscrits dans son carnet cinq ans plus tôt, à la fin du mois de septembre 1914 : « Je suis de nouveau dans une vallée profonde. Mais je commence déjà à entrevoir la montagne que je gravirai certainement....Dieu ouvre sa porte un instant et son orchestre joue la Cinquième Symphonie. »

a piece considered revolutionary in the years following its composition, because of its rhythmic flow and its musical imagery: the solo violin is the songbird and the orchestra is the rolling landscape beneath it, a brilliant and virtuoso early work).
- ‘Tzigane’ by M. Ravel >
‘For the benefit of our friend, who plays so easily, you have convinced me to compose a little piece whose diabolical difficulty will bring back to life the Hungary of my dreams and, since it will be on the violin, why don't we call it Tzigane? This is how Ravel informed Bartók of his intention to write this piece. However, there is no authentic melody in Tzigane; Ravel creates a kind of popular exoticism ‘in the style of...’ even though he uses traditional modes and rhythms, and impetuous changes of speed.
In the second half, you will listen the Symphony No.5 by Jean Sibelius >
Sibelius celebrated his 50th birthday in 1915 with the premiere of his Fifth Symphony. But the composer was not happy with the result and began reworking the work. The revised work was premiered in 1919. After the revisions, the symphony had three movements instead of the usual four. It was premiered on 24 November 1919, and Sibelius must finally have been deeply satisfied, especially if he recalled the words he had written in his notebook five years earlier, at the end of September 1914: ‘I am once again in a deep valley. But I am already beginning to catch a glimpse of the mountain I will surely climb....God opens his door for a moment and his orchestra plays the Fifth Symphony.’
