These two leading edge films powerfully show why — and how — direct action is effective against the military industrial complex intent on destruction for profit.
MC’d by the entertaining local identity GG, the night will include a discussion on the power of non-violent direct action. A diverse panel of Northern Rivers Climate and Pal-Action campaigners will share their experiences of resistance and change.
FILM: RISING TIDE - TURNING THE SHIP
This is the story of the passion and drive behind Rising Tide, and the extraordinary Peoples Blockade of the Worlds largest Coal Port in Newcastle, Australia. It follows the building of this movement, and the legal and political battles behind the 2024 ‘Protestival.’ Meet the community of everyday people taking a stand against the fossil fuel giants in this time of Climate Crisis. FILM: TO K*ll A WAR MACHINE
Directed by Human Rights film makers Hannan Majid and Richard York, this uplifting and controversial documentary chronicles activities targeting Israeli arms manufacturers in the UK by Palestine Action, and the UK Government attempts to outlaw resistance and silence its own complicity in a Genocide. A film of civil resistance caught on bodycams and protesters’ phones, it humanises a covert movement of moral resistance to complicity in Genocide.
