Join us for a very fruitful seder and brunch, on Sunday, February 1 at 10:00 AM. The Temple will provide all the dried fruit and juice, along with bagels, cream cheese, and lox. What we would like those in attendance to bring are other “brunchy” foods like noodle kugel, fruit salad, egg salad, tuna salad, deviled eggs, or a cheese platter. Tu B’Shevat boosts our connection to Israel mid-winter. We remember that on the fifteenth day of Shevat, the first signs of spring emerge as almond trees begin to blossom. Historically Tu B’Shevat was the new year for trees, when the Kohanim levied tithes on fruit trees. We observe Tu B’Shevat by planting new trees in Israel, often through the Jewish National Fund, and by eating many different varieties of fruits that are grown in Israel. It is delicious fun!
