About this Event
Please join us at Five Saints Distilling in Norristown, PA for a free introduction to the basics of brownfields!
Whether you are completely new to the concept of brownfields, or are a seasoned Act 2 brownfields veteran looking for a networking opportunity, these trainings will introduce you to the knowledge and contacts that will help you navigate through the process of bringing these properties back to productive use in your community.
A brownfield is a real property whose use or reuse may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. Many former industrial and commercial sites may indeed be brownfields. Pennsylvania’s voluntary cleanup program, known as Act 2, presents a clear path for addressing brownfields in the Commonwealth.
In this session you will hear from experts in the field from the US Environmental Protection Agency, PA Department of Environmental Protection, PA Department of Community and Economic Development, Mid-Atlantic TAB (Technical Assistance to Brownfield Communities), as well as a local partner to bring you some real-world examples of projects that have gone through the process. Learn to understand the basics of the Act 2 Program and how to acquire funding for your projects.
Sign in for the event will open at 12:00pm. From 1:00 - 3:00pm our experts will share information and advice for tackling brownfields projects. From 3:00 - to 5:00pm there will be a networking event for attendees to mingle with peers in the industry, all while enjoying some delicious appetizers!
