FUBU, the BIPoC high society Tea Party, bringing people together in the right space for great tea, fun, entertainment, and Healing.
About this Event

The Brown Sugar Black Tea Party is a "high society," themed tea party that aims to centre focus on health and healing using tea. When we think of the "high society" Tea Party we think of white British old ladies and gentlemen. Brown Sugar Black Tea is here to shift that narrative away from the status quo and on to the healing aspects of tea not just for our bodies but for the community and to show that High Society Tea does not belong to one group of people but to all of us. The idea is to use these tea parties to create a safe space for the community to thrive and heal and get back to the roots of it all.

The use of medicinal plants (Tea) as a fundamental component of the African traditional healthcare system is perhaps the oldest and the most assorted of all therapeutic systems. In many parts of rural Africa, traditional healers prescribing medicinal plants (Tea) are the most easily accessible and affordable health resource available to the local community and at times the only therapy that subsists. Our people use tea to heal the mind, body and spirit to nourish their souls and to bring together the community.

This s what Brown Sugar Black Tea wants to do we want to take the knowledge of our ancestors and apply it to their modern-day lineage with a twist because we cannot have fun without a themed party and some funky music.

We are here creating a safe space for us to thrive and just BE.
