The Broward Sierra Club is having our annual Earth Day celebration event on Sunday, March 8th from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The theme this year is Water is at the Center of Everything.
This event features:
Nature hikes and kayaking around the natural mangrove areas of the park. We'll also have live music and food trucks.
Art displays from our annual Youth Plastic Waste Art Contest, with judging and prizes announced on site.
More than 14 exhibitors with hands-on activities and information about conservation and environmental efforts.
This year as we gather around the theme “Water is the Center of Everything”. We will acknowledge that water connects us, sustains us, and is a part of our everyday lives. Yet many of our communities face growing challenges as pollutants threaten our drinking water and the waterways we depend on. Our goal is to empower our community to take meaningful action and protect the resources that impact all of us.
We invite you to join us at our Earth Day event so together we can educate our guests about how their actions can contribute to protecting the waters that nourish our families, our neighborhoods, and our futures. Everyone deserves access to clean safe water; it’s a basic human right.
On this Earth Day, we want our guests to discover through learning, connections, and shared understanding that each of us can truly be part of the solution.
Broward Sierra Group’s Earth Day will feature notable speakers throughout the day, as well as 14 table exhibitors from a diverse group of environmental organizations.
Judging for our annual plastic waste art contest for local students occurs at our Earth Day event, and all participants will have their art on display for viewing by the public.
The day promises inspiring indoor and outdoor environmental activities for all, a live band, food trucks, and full use of the facilities at the Anne Kolb event space.

We are also featuring an art contest for high school students to design an original artwork piece using discarded plastic waste. We hope this contest will encourage young artists to use creativity of expression about this overwhelming issue of plastic pollution. The top 3 art pieces will be selected by judges during our Earth Day event and cash prizes will be awarded to the student winners.
