In “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” two narrators attempt to recreate all 209 of the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm in a wild, fast-paced extravaganza. To make it more difficult, they attempt to combine them into one gigantic fable using Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and other more obscure stories like Lean Lisa and The Devil's Grandmother.
The WMHS production stars a group of seven freshmen: Rylie Bruch, Fiona Burd, Luke D’Andrea, Ava O’Connell, Sophie Powers, EJ Savage, and Will Symes. The production is managed by Hailey Allocco, Alex Baumhardt, Declan Blair, James Brogna, and Lucy Spry. Student designers also include Clara Thomas (costumes), Teddy Moore (lighting), Morgan MacRobbie (props), and Nathaniel Chines (sound). Additional technical crew members include Shay Barker, Alison Burke, Jay Burns, Angela Guo, Abby Turner, Alicia Turner, and Jessie Yarosh.
After a brief intermission, we’ll host a Broadway cabaret featuring songs from hit Broadway musicals including Hairspray, Sweeney Todd, Waitress, Into the Woods, and Wicked. This cast includes Hailey Allocco, Shay Barker, Aiden Berinato, Ben Blackstone, James Brogna, Carina Cataldo, Naya Chankhour, Chloe Migliacci, Lucy Spry, and Sadie Spry.
The production is directed by Will Karvouniaris. Technical Support is provided by Tim Donahue, Becky Jo Roland, Matty Tupaj, and Matthew Williams. Music direction is by Kate Burns.
This production is supported in part by the Wakefield Education Foundation, the Wakefield Cultural Council, and the Wakefield Music Boosters.
