Vera van Heeringen and Brooks Williams present ‘Song Roots’ a night of songs, stories, vocal harmonies, guitar and mandolin. Audiences will be treated to duets as well as solos by two masters of roots music song-writing. Vera van Heeringen, originally from The Netherlands, is an accomplished and highly acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. She was part of the brilliantly comedic New Rope String Band for five years and has toured with several Cajun and Old time greats such as Dirk Powell and Sheryl Cormier. In recent years Vera has been performing with her own trio and has just released her third album ‘Won’t be Broken’ which has been described by the press as her best yet. Her emotionally astute song-writing is underpinned with an understated rich instrumental craft on guitar.Brooks Williams, originally from the USA, is a guitarist singer-songwriter creating acoustic music from the confluence of country, blues and folk. Besides his solo concerts, he also tours and records with fiddler Aaron Catlow, who RnR named the ‘best live act of 2023’. Additionally, Williams has a long-standing duo with songwriter Boo Hewerdine called State Of The Union. Williams’ latest solo recording, ‘Diamond Days’ released in March 2024, is, according to Fatea, a “stunning collection from the chocolate-voiced guitar maestro.
