About this Event

May 4 from 10 AM to 12:00 PM

Join Brooklyn Outdoor Service Guides (OSG), Scout Troop 651 for a cleanup from 10 AM to 12:00 PM at Valentino Pier for the 13th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep. This is a rain or shine event.

Volunteers will meet at the flagpole at Louis Valentino, Jr. Park and Pier, at the intersection of Ferris St & Van Dyke St, Brooklyn. Parking is available on the streets surrounding the pier. Leave ample time to find parking as it can be competitive.

We ask all Sweep volunteers to bring a hat, sunscreen, a full reusable water bottle, insect repellant , a face mask, work gloves and hand sanitizer. Wear layers. Depending on the weather, it can get windy and is always colder by the water.

This site is suitable for elementary-aged children with adult supervision.

Questions? Contact Riverkeeper at [email protected] or Sweep Leader Laura Gibson-Rimer at [email protected] or call Laura at 718-775-1557.

*IMPORTANT! To ensure the safety of volunteers, Sweep Site Leaders, professional staff, and our communities, we ask that volunteers adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Volunteers are required to pre-register for Sweep.
  • Volunteers should not participate if they have ANY signs of illness or if they have potentially been exposed to COVID-19.

Over the last 12 years, Sweep leaders have completed 1,199 service projects, bringing together thousands of volunteers from NYC to the Adirondacks to clean up 355 tons of debris, and plant or maintain 7,130 native plants. This incredible effort is made possible by the generosity of our members, sponsors, and donors. If you would like to support the continued growth of the Riverkeeper Sweep, please consider
