Join us for sculpting with bronze "clay" with local artist Karen Sixkiller. In this 2 day workshop you'll learn the basics of working with metal clays and how to push the boundaries of small sculptural work. Create small figures, jewelry items or charms without the need for pouring hot metal or casting complications. Leave with beautiful shiny gold colored metal creations. Just bring your ideas for small figures or charms and we will figure out how to make them!
Day 1: Create our little sculptures using bronze metal clay formulated by the artist. Learn how the metal clay "works" and what it's capable of, and use that to create your ideas in metal.
Day 2: Your solid bronze metal pieces will be out of the firing and ready to clean and polish with guidance, tips and tricks that make the process faster and easier with minimal supplies.
No experience needed. Some clay sculpting techniques are transferable. All needed materials provided, but on Day 1 if you'd like to bring small cookie cutter shapes to cut specific shapes, interesting textures or even latex icing molds these can often be used with metal clay. Day 2 if you have a dremel with sanding heads that can be fun for polishing, but not at all necessary.
You could make as many as 5 small 1.5" tall figures, or a few larger ones, or a whole handful of charms to share with friends!
