Step back in time and create your own bronze sword, just like the ones found at Flag Fen.
Led by Jonathan Cope, a multi-period re-enactor and creator of a wide range of historical replicas. Jonathan will lead attendees through the processes involved in making a Bronze Age sword. Take home your very own sword.
This is a full weekend workshop on Saturday & Sunday from10.00 – 16.00.
£275 per person. There are only very limited spaces on this workshop. Email [email protected] to book.
At the workshop:
Following a safety briefing and instruction, students will prepare their sword moulds and then cast liquid bronze to create their sword blank. Sword castings will be made two people at a time, working together. Therefore three castings during the day to create the six swords.
Attendees can then start work on finishing the swords by filing, sanding and then polishing. A wooden handle kit will be supplied and work can start on fitting and shaping. This work will continue throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Please note: Due to the nature of this work it is suggested that attendees will need to be physically fit and able, over 21 years of age and of practical disposition. The working environment is predominantly outdoors and all weathers with lots of physical activity.
All equipment, tools and PPE will be provided. With hard work you will be able to finish your sword in the given time.
