About this Event

May 4 from 11 AM to 2:30 PM

Join Super Stewards with City of NY Parks and Recreation for a cleanup at Burke Ave Bridge from 11 AM to 2:30 PM for the 13th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep. This is a rain or shine event.

Volunteers will meet near the Bronx River Parkway: Enter Bronx Forest at Rosewood St and Bronx Park East and walk past the playground (restrooms), down the path, vear right under the overpass, and you come out at Burke Bridge where we meet up. An alternative route from Webster Ave is also a choice: turn on E204th st down the path into Bronx Forest, walk down the path veering left, all the way until you see Burke Bridge. Park on Bronx Park East or on Webster Ave.

We recommend that all Sweep volunteers bring a hat, sunscreen, a full reusable water bottle, insect repellent, work gloves and hand sanitizer.

This site is suitable for elementary-aged children with adult supervision.

Questions? Contact Riverkeeper at [email protected] or Sweep Leader Rosanne Andrade at [email protected] or call Rosanne at 347-366-5601.

*IMPORTANT! To ensure the safety of volunteers, Sweep Site Leaders, professional staff, and our communities, we ask that volunteers adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Volunteers are required to pre-register for Sweep.
  • Volunteers should not participate if they have ANY signs of illness or if they have potentially been exposed to COVID-19.

Over the last 12 years, Sweep leaders have completed 1,199 service projects, bringing together thousands of volunteers from NYC to the Adirondacks to clean up 355 tons of debris, and plant or maintain 7,130 native plants. This incredible effort is made possible by the generosity of our members, sponsors, and donors. If you would like to support the continued growth of the Riverkeeper Sweep, please consider making a donation. Contributions of any amount are meaningful.
