STRAVINSKY PétrouchkaRACHMANINOFF Piano Concerto No. 3
Performing Artists
The Cleveland Orchestra
Franz Welser-Möst, conductor
Yefim Bronfman, piano
Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto is one of the most formidable works in the repertoire, and Yefim Bronfman shines in meeting its technical and artistic demands. A regular collaborator with The Cleveland Orchestra, Bronfman is at home both in this titanic concerto and onstage at Severance, where Rachmaninoff himself performed the same work in 1932. Several years later, Stravinsky would lead the Orchestra in his Pétrouchka, the bold ballet score that rounds out this program.
