The Anti Art, A Visual Discourse on Transience

As an award-winning poet, scholar, University of Brighton post-graduated with working-class roots, and activist from a Latinx background, Broken Glass brings a unique perspective to their art.
Their art (hanging around, in the insert) has been selected for the final of national open exhibitions in 2024. Through their curated arrangement of artworks in 'The Anti-Art’ at Mid street Lab, they create connections to history and provoke new thoughts about class and our psyche, exploring themes of historical scars, social realities, and the transient self.
Broken Glass spearheads an assault on conventional aesthetics, responding to the intricacies of life in late capitalism, Eurocentrism, and performative power via conscientisation. Inherited from artists like Kosuth is a deconstructive approach to art, where critiquing the production of meaning and power takes precedence over mere communication.
Glass’s work challenges traditional notions of art and invites viewers to engage in critical dialogue about the complexities of our society with a personal touch.“The Anti-Art: A Visual Discourse on Transience” promises to be a thought-provoking experience for attendees. It will push the boundaries of traditional art forms and invite viewers to reconsider their understanding of aesthetics and cultural norms.
