Douglas McCombs leads Brokeback down the winding sonic byways he’s been exploring for more than 20 years in the band’s first appearance before a live audience since the pandemic began. Building on a livestreamed performance at Constellation last fall, McCombs’s sepia-toned instrumentals are paired here with ambient video footage by Kim Alpert in a newly extended cut for a uniquely immersive concert.
Pulling from all chapters of Brokeback's songbook, McCombs (guitar/Bass VI), James Elkington (guitar/pedal steel) and Areif Sless-Kitain (drums) welcome back bassist Pete Croke for this special appearance.
