Broadfield reimagined - Daytime Art Workshop

The Workshop

A bookable workshop open to members of the local community to bring their family and friends to come and contribute to a new artwork that artist Sam Williams will be creating for Broadfield Arts Festival in June 2025.

Inspired by the rich use and diversity of the communities that call Broadfield Community Centre home, the workshops will take movement and gathering as a starting point. Considering shared interests, commonalities and a need to move to come together, we will create patterns inspired by the vibrancy of everyday life in Broadfield. Using simple techniques to create stencils and stamps, we will experiment with pattern making on paper and fabric.

1.30pm - 2.30pm

Broadfield Community Centre social hall

Disclaimer:

• Please be aware that your ideas and creations from the session will be collected to use as inspiration for the final artwork installation.
• Workshops are suitable for adults and children, under 16’s must be supervised at all times by a parent/guardian.
• Recommended for ages 5+. Under 5’s must be accompanied on a 1:1 parent & child ratio.
• We will be using paint so please wear clothing that is not precious and is suitable for a messy activity.

About The Artist

Sam Williams is an artist and public art producer who specialises in playful projects.

She creates ambitious projects, often with groups and communities that explore how play and creativity can enrich our everyday lives.

Originally from Tamworth in the West Midlands and now based in Brighton, she has produced and delivered immersive public artworks across the UK including at events and festivals, drawing inspiration from her childhood experience growing up in a local theme park, Drayton Manor, where her family (and later she) worked.
