Dogs — Ms Charlotte Jenvall [Denmark]
My background for Dalmatian knowledge has
been built up over many years.
I’ve had Dalmatians since 1976. In 1980 I bought
my first bitch suitable for breeding and through
good contacts I was lucky to start with a very
healthy line in the breed with nice mentality. My
kennel name is Curia. Already in the first litter
in 1982, I was then 19 years old, we had an
International Champion called Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.
This gave me the ambition never to make a
compromise - if I did choose to breed a bitch, the
combination had to be the best, considering both
pedigree, type and mentality. I’ve bred Dalmatians
for more than 40 years and I love the breed.
I breed one litter every year and our breeding dogs are family members. Still most of my
dogs go back to my first original breeding bitch.
Professionally, I’m a veterinarian specialized in dogs and cats.
More than 30 years ago I decided to study and educate as exterior judge for the Dalmatian.
It is the only breed I judge and I enjoy sharing my ideas about the Dalmatian through my
judging. I’ve have 2 - 3 specialty show, national shows or international shows each year
for the last many years. Through the years I’ve been invited as a judge in many European
countries.
Bitches — Mr John McCarthy
We bought our first Dalmatian in spring 1974, fifty years
ago, bred by Mrs Fergusson, who happily is still a Club
member after all these years. Kilnhouse Blackberry Boy is
still the family favourite with our children. Ever since then,
we have owned 2 or 3 dogs at any time and have shown all
of them with some success, beginning with Open Shows we
rapidly moved on to Championship events and travelled all
over the country to attend shows, lectures, teach-ins and
demonstrations. I became a committee member of Bucks
Canine Society, who ran 3000 dog shows on The Green at
High Wycombe. My first judging was at Maidstone in 1980
under the watchful eyes of Mrs Piper. My first set of CCs was
at Bath Canine Society Championship Show. We ventured
into Japanese Shiba Inus and judged them for a time. When
it became possible to take dogs to Europe, we developed
a taste for travel and showing over the water. Which lead
to me judging The Belgium Dalmatian Club Show. My last
judging which should have been Three Counties Show was
sadly cancelled by the pandemic. As a result, it is now 8
years since I last judged the breed which means it is unlikely
that I have hands-on any of the entry at this show previously, I have deliberately chosen
to judge the Bitches as our own successes have mostly been males.
I look forward to meeting your dogs on the day.
I would like to thank the British Dalmatian Club for the invitation and I look forward to
judging our breed.
