About this Event
In 1876, Ottawa discovered that thefort on the Bow had been named, without authority, after the NWMP officer in charge. It was quickly renamed “Fort Calgary.” Inspector Ephrem Brisebois, the man who had named thefort after himself, was consequently surrounded by controversy and disappeared from the pages of Calgary's history. Jim Benedict will discuss why Brisebois should be honoured for his many achievements.
