About this Event
Brisbane Pride is proud to present the inaugural Brisbane Pride Queer Formal for 2024. The Brisbane Pride Formal first started in 2017 and we are so happy to see it return for 2024!
The purpose of the Brisbane Pride Queer Formal is provide a safe space for LGBTIQ students who for any reason may have been prevented from attending or chosen not to their own school formal.
Unfortunately even with fantastic, progressive and supportive policies in Queensland schools there are still many students that suffer discrimination, fear, anxiety and exclusion when it comes to attending their school formal celebrations. Private religious schools in particular still actively prevent LGBTIQIA+ students from bringing same sex partners and do not always support gender diverse students. Some students just aren’t ready or comfortable to express themselves freely amongst their peers and others simply want a safe space to meet and celebrate with their community.
This event is for our queer youth to express themselves however they feel most comfortable, to attend with who they love and to have a fantastic night celebrating who they are in style with their LGBTIQ peers.
The Brisbane Pride Queer Formal is proudly sponsored by the the LGBTIQ Community, Brisbane Pride Festival & Brisbane City Council and is a 100% free event being held in the Brisbane Room at Brisbane City Hall.
Tickets include a Two Course Meal, a night of fabulous entertainment, including performances by local entertainers and DJ’s as well as some of Brisbane's best Drag Performers!
This is a 100% Drug and Alcohol Free Event
Tickets are available to any school age students in Queensland (up to 21 years old), partners are not restricted on age but reminded this is a youth event, focussed and centred on supporting school aged youth.
Tickets are open to LGBTIQIA+ Students as well as their Allies and Friends.
Whilst we have some fantastic financial support from Brisbane City Council, we still need your support to make this a FREE event.
Members of the public can "purchase the price of a ticket" for $50 to cover the cost of a student attending via Eventbrite. This purchase goes towards covering the costs of the event, ensuring the students can attend for free.
The ticket does not need to be distributed to a student by the purchaser.
