About this Event
After years of dedication, vision, and tireless restoration, the Historic Nissen House celebrates its first full year open to the public—a milestone that feels like a bountiful harvest after a long season of planting. Since 2008, countless hands have shaped its revival: scraping paint, researching stories, hosting events, and dreaming big.
This anniversary is more than a date—it’s a tribute to every volunteer, visitor, and visionary who believed in the power of preserving history. Like a well-tended field finally bearing fruit, the Nissen House now stands not just as a structure, but as a living testament to community spirit, cultural roots, and the enduring beauty of hard-earned progress.
With that in mind, we are celebrating “Bringing in the Harvest at the Historic Nissen House!”
Step back into Lewisville in the 1880s to experience how farm families celebrated the harvest season. The event combines hands-on activities, storytelling, and authentic demonstrations inside the Historic Nissen House, with opportunities to explore the surrounding grounds for a taste of rural life.
For a suggested donation of just $5, you can enjoy a painting activity, see a Nissen Wagon and receive a guided tour of the house, learning about the area’s rich rural history. Bring your friends and family for a day filled with sweet treats, laughter, and a touch of nostalgia.
Don't miss out on this chance to meet your neighbors, both past & present! See you there! For more details and to receive tickets, visit our website www.nissenhouse.org
