We are inviting you to ‘bring a friend’ to our 5km Linear Trails walk in Athelstone on Saturday 27th April 2024.

TICKETS
The cost for this walk is $5.00 per person.

WHO COULD YOU BRING?
We encourage you to bring a friend who you think would benefit from walking with others but who may be a little reluctant for a range of reasons.
Maybe they are anxious about not being able to complete the walk. Maybe they are concerned about their body image. Maybe they are worried they won’t fit in. Maybe they feel way out of their comfort zone.
Perhaps you have a friend who has had a long break due to injury/health issue, family responsibilities or the general stresses of life, and they just need a bit of encouragement to get back out.
Regardless of the reason, we hope you can encourage them to come along. Let them know our walks are safe and inclusive of all women of various ages, genders, ethnic backgrounds, fitness levels and capabilities.

MEET TIME/LOCATION
Please meet at 8.15am ready for an 8.30am start at the Black Hill Conservation Park carpark off Gorge Road (Gate 1) in Athelstone.
There are toilets located across the road from our meet spot.

WALK DETAILS
This walk is approximately 5km (allow up to 2 hours). We will walk along the Linear Trail in Athelstone (urban paths). This walk is rated as ‘easy’.

I.C.E. FORM
You will need to bring with you a completed I.C.E. form which will provide walk leaders with medical details and other important information they may require.
You can download an I.C.E. form here - https://www.wisewomenwalking.org.au/content.cfm?page_id=1852243&current_category_code=23702
If you are unable to print, we will have some spares at the walk for you to fill in.

WEATHER AND GEAR
You can check the forecast for the walk location here: http://www.bom.gov.au/places/sa/athelstone/forecast/detailed/
If the weather forecast is for extreme weather or a fire ban is issue for the Adelaide Hills, this walk will be cancelled the day before and fully refunded.
We will only cancel last minute (by text message and email) if there is a severe weather warning/thunderstorm warning or weather events that are likely to impact on the safety of our leaders and walkers.

Due to the variability of the weather, the following items will be needed:
- a daypack (approximately 25 litres) backpack
- 2 litres of water
- sun protection (hat, sunnies, suncream) or wet weather gear (check the forecast and plan accordingly!)
- blister kit/personal medication
- high energy snacks/fruit
- boots/comfortable walking shoes
- layerable clothing for before/during/after the walk (eg. jumper/jacket)
- walking poles (optional)
Please ensure you have the minimum gear required as no refunds are possible after booking. If you arrive underprepared without wet weather clothing or the gear listed above, our Leaders have the right to ask you not to walk with us for safety reasons.
Note: All our leaders carry group first aid kits, emergency communication devices and are qualified bushwalking leaders.

OTHER INFORMATION
Our walks are all about fun, fitness and friendship - not a personal training session. If we cannot walk and talk at the same time, we are walking too fast! And we never leave anyone behind.
Minimum age requirement for our walks is 15 years old (as long they are accompanied by a supervising adult). Please check with us if unsure.
For the walk to go ahead, we need a minimum of 4 walkers registered by the registration closing time (5pm the day before the walk). If a walk is cancelled due to the minimum number not being met, participants who have registered will be notified by text the evening before the walk and a refund will be given.
During our walks, photos may be taken for use publicly on our website, social media channels and e-newsletter. If you do not wish for your photo to be taken/used, please notify us via email - [email protected]
