Shreveport Little Theatre announces open auditions for its upcoming production of Brighton Beach Memoirs by Neil Simon. The play, a timeless comedy, chronicles the life of Eugene Jerome, a 15-year-old aspiring playwright and baseball pitcher. Set in Brooklyn, NY, during the Great Depression, Simon’s classic coming-of-age play resonates with a modern audience as it follows a cast of unforgettable characters struggling to navigate life’s challenges. The cast calls for three men and four women, including parts for teenage boys and girls. Auditions will be held at Shreveport Little Theatre on Sunday, July 7, at 1:00 pm and Monday, July 8, at 6:00 pm in the SLT Studio. Please note that actors will use the Studio Door entrance (in the gravel parking lot) on Monday.Those wishing to audition should prepare for cold readings during auditions. Please bring a list of all potential conflicts between July 20 and September 22, 2024. Brighton Beach Memoirs will open Friday, September 13, 2024, and is slated to run for two weekends. Scripts for Brighton Beach Memoirs are available for checkout at the Shreveport Little Theatre Box Office. Each script may be checked out for twenty-four hours with a refundable $20 holding fee. John F. Daniel, veteran actor and director at SLT, is set to direct.
