We start at the (now derelict) reconstructed Roundhouse on the site of Brigantium Fort and climb gently to the ramparts of the fort of Bremenium which now forms the village of High Rochester. Circling the fort we continue steadily upwards to the viewpoint at Ridley Crag and then head west to the locations of a number of Roman marching camps. We visit Dere Street, literally in the footsteps of the Romans, which heads north into the firing ranges now patrolled by the modern army, before returning via another aspect of Bremenium.
Dress for changeable weather and wear suitable footwear. Bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink for the break.
Dogs are not permitted at this event.
