Bridging the gap between Art & Scholarship: A Creative Practice Research Seminar with Prof. David Harradine
Join us for a research seminar featuring Prof. David Harradine, Professor of Interdisciplinary Practice, and co-artistic director of Fevered Sleep. Explore the concept of Practice Research Boxes, a pioneering initiative that has reshaped the landscape of practice-based research submissions for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
Discover how Prof. Harradine and his team transcended traditional academic boundaries to encapsulate the essence of creative processes in bespoke, tangible formats. These boxes, meticulously designed in collaboration with Valle Walkley, not only facilitate the sharing of complex, practice-led research but also celebrate its physicality and craft, making the research journey accessible and engaging.
This seminar will explore the genesis of the Practice Research Boxes, from the challenges of representing multidisciplinary work in a conventional REF submission to the creation of a comprehensive, sensory experience that embodies the research's full arc. Learn about the project's impact on Central’s research visibility, searchability, and the legacy for creative practice researchers.
Could REF Practice Boxes revolutionise the way Solent based creative practice researchers’ approach, document, and share our research?
