🛠️ Nanaimo Bridge Breaking Competition & Engineering Fun!When: Sunday, April 6, 2025 | 11 AM - 3 PM

Join us for an exciting Bridge Breaking Competition, where participants will design and build bridges to see how much weight they can withstand before breaking!
This event is proudly presented in partnership with BC Society of Engineers and Geoscientists (BCSEG), the Wellington Branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library, and Nanaimo Science!
How it works:
-Bring your pre-built bridge, ensuring to finish building at least a few days in advance for proper drying (details on specifications in comments)
-Measure and test your bridge using the Bridge Breaking Machine
-Compete for prizes in multiple categories!
Drop-In STEM Activities!
Waiting for your turn to test your bridge? Not competing? No problem! Inside the Nanaimo Science Studio, we’ll have fun, hands-on engineering challenges for all ages, including:
-Building towering structures with KEVA blocks
-Designing and testing bridges using spaghetti & marshmallows
Important Details:
-Open to all ages—family-friendly event!
-Winners will be announced at the end of the event.
