Bricks Without Straw – A Powerful Theatrical Experience
Join us for Bricks Without Straw, a dynamic one-woman show that brings to life the untold stories of trailblazing women who defied the odds, built empires, and created generational wealth. Through vivid portrayals, audiences will meet historical figures like:
Libby Keckley – Mary Todd Lincoln’s seamstress, whose accounts of slavery influenced President Lincoln’s decision to emancipate enslaved Africans.
Maggie Walker – The first woman to charter a bank and a fierce advocate for integration in the Girl Scouts.
Mary Ellen Pleasant – A formerly enslaved woman who became a successful investor in the banking industry and a champion for civil rights.
This compelling seven-character, one-woman performance explores themes of resilience, entrepreneurship, craftsmanship, and strategic planning.
