An early evening of quality local song-smithing. A cozy venue and shortish, intimate sets from three lovely acts, in this order:Carpenter/Cohen (https://carpentercohen.bandcamp.com/album/carpenter-cohen)
Dreamy indie rock with pretty vocal harmonies and wonderfully weaving musical virtuosity. Featuring Joshua Carpenter (https://joshuacarpenter.bandcamp.com/album/end-of-the-kicks0) and Finn Cohen (formerly of The Nein).
The Monologue Bombs (https://themonologuebombs.bandcamp.com/album/reaves-ep)
The Monologue Bombs is the solo moniker of sinner-songwriter Scott David Phillips, a 30-year veteran of the Raleigh NC music scene. His live solo performances are dynamic and intimate affairs, with Phillips switching from piano to accordion to guitar and back. His voice has garnered praiseworthy comparisons to John Darnielle, Colin Meloy, and Paul Simon. Phillips’ songs combine a poetic eye for detail; a strong sense of character; and a bracing, emotional honesty. Lyrical influences include Bruce Springsteen, Richard Buckner, Liz Phair and The Promise Ring, while the music trods a more lo-fi indie path, with nods to folk rock and chamber pop. Potluck Foundation released The Monologue Bombs’ bedroom pop coming-of-age song cycle Orchard EP in 2020, as well as the full-band roots-rocking Reaves EP in 2022. Phillips is currently playing a lot of shows and writing a 14-song concept album (Night Before the Plague).
Brian D Corum
Brain writes for and sings in Lonnie Walker (https://lonniewalker.bandcamp.com/album/easy-easy-easy-easy-2) and Paradise Motel Lounge (https://itspml.bandcamp.com/album/welcome-to-the). When performing solo, he brings a spectacular, catchy, loose-limbed brand of indie folk.
Show starts at 7. Come join us for a special night of damn good music.
