Come celebrate sustainable brewing and learn how brewers can reduce costs, energy use, and their carbon footprint! This is a FREE event – including hors d'oeuvres and one drink ticket – sponsored by Wicked W**d, Sugar Hollow Solar and Duke Energy and put on in partnership with the Blue Horizons Project Community Council, which is supported by the City of Asheville and Buncombe County.
In between ample time to mix, mingle, and make new connections, Audra Gaiziunas, the owner of Brewed for Her Ledger, will deliver an inspiring keynote, and then we’ll dive into the importance of sustainable brewing with a brief panel discussion moderated by Mica Crouse, Founder of Big Mountain Impact, including:
- Andrew Dagnan, Wicked W**d Brewing’s Director, Safety & Sustainability
- Robert “Lem” Lemer, River Arts District Brewing Founder & Head Brewer
- Ava Ingle, Lenoir-Rhyne University Graduate Student
- Marshall Goers, Waste Reduction Partners Environmental Engineer
Dr. Evan Couzo, Associate Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of North Carolina Asheville, Alesha Reardon, Senior Business Energy Advisor at Duke Energy, and Joel Storrow, Asheville-Buncombe Air Quality Agency Chairman, will also recognize microbreweries that participated in a recent study evaluating their energy use, provide information about incentive programs that directly support clean energy projects and call on local breweries to take the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star Challenge by pledging to reduce their energy intensity by 10% within 5 years. Event sponsors and local environmental organizations will have tables set up to showcase their sustainability efforts.
Please RSVP by Sunday, May 12th so that we may receive an accurate headcount. All are welcome and we look forward to seeing you there!
