All are invited to kirtan with "Rayananda and the Wandering Sadhus" on Saturday, July 13 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Unity of Melbourne. The event is free and first-timers are always welcome. Love donations will benefit Unity and Second Harvest Food Bank. Doors will be locked from entry 10 minutes after the program begins.Kirtan is an ancient spiritual tradition of devotional call-and-response chants to the Divine, is an integral aspect of the path of Bhakti, the yoga of love. The purpose of kirtan is to bring us closer to the Divine. Chanting opens and purifies our hearts and allows us to experience the constant flow of love that surrounds us. Through our devotional chanting, we come to experience that wellspring of love within and to realize our ultimate oneness with the sacred.
The band accompanies the chanting with harmoniums, guitar, bass guitar, and percussion. Their kirtans have been described as high-energy, heart-opening, bliss-soaked ecstatic happenings.
