“Everything strives for color.” GoetheMississippi artist and teacher Brent Funderburk is a seeker of what Lawren Harris called “…the moment eternal and the locally infinite”. His newest works in watermedia record his search for this “Path of Light” through the timely and timeless by way of natural observation, dynamic composition as storytelling, and childlike play.
Funderburk will present an illustrated lecture about the rich, light-filled possibilities of watercolor. As he has spoken widely and often about Walter Inglis Anderson and 20th century American moderns who brought watermedia into serious consideration, his presentation will emphasize a personal and art history of the medium’s profound journey toward inner expression and cultural meaning. This is a free event.
“Path of Light,” an exhibit of 60 paintings and drawings by Brent Funderburk, will be on display at the Meridian Museum of Art from October 4 through November 30.
