Brennan Wedl documents those dizzying years spent in the world of ‘twenty-something’. Her radically unvarnished accounts detail an expansive universe that interweaves the everyday with scenes that might include catholic church camps, queer awakenings, one-night stands, or collapsed ‘forever’ relationships. The result? An eminently relatable catalog of moments when profound realizations arrive unexpectedly.
Wedl’s knack for encapsulating the moment has been apparent since co-founding the teen Boston band Dazey & The Scouts in 2017 and through their viral resurgence in 2020 as a new audience found themselves drawn to the allure of their self-described “hormonal freak show”. As she heads into 2024 her newest compositions prove that she remains viscerally attached to her emotional core and an acutely gifted narrator of life’s highs and lows.
HiDAZE, the alternative rock band built from a conglomerate of musicians, brings high energy performances and genre bending ideas to the music scene. The intricate guitar work of Lila Satterfield captivates the audience, while Emma Combs’ masterful blend of keys and synth creates a unique listening experience. Ava Finkbeiner’s melodic bass lines highlight the groove and depth of their sound, while the dynamic drums of Ashton Hash drive the rhythm with precision and power. The expressive vocals of both Ava and Emma deliver raw emotion with polished harmony.
The groups collaborative songwriting process showcases each members’ musical background, pulling inspiration from psychedelic rock, indie, and fusion. The group explores themes of societal power dynamics, love, and self-discovery, with their lyrical storytelling engaging listeners to follow and interpret the narratives in many ways.
