Longtime collaborators pianist/vocalist Brenda Earle Stokes and Al Weiss make their Peppermoon debut in this cozy jazz series sponsored by the London Jazz Association. Get ready for an engaging night of jazz standards,Brazilian music, original compositions and unexpected materials.Brenda Earle Stokes is a Sarnia native who recently returned to her hometown after 24 years of living and performing in New York City. Her musical prowess has taken her around the globe recording and performing as a leader and side musician with a who's who of jazz. Her most recent album Motherhood landed on top ten jazz lists and was supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
Al Weiss is a longtime staple of the Southwestern Ontario jazz scene. His rich sound and creative approach to improvisation have graced stages in a wide range of groups.
Stokes was first introduced to jazz by Weiss, who was her high school band teacher in the 1990s. All these years later their musical lives have reconnected bringing fresh sounds as a duet and small group.
