BREIDABLIKKEn forestilling med Mari Qviller
What does a house in rural Norway, a God with nightmares and an oil platform have in common?
What? You think this is the start of a joke?
It’s absolutely not. This is a very serious story about heartbreak. You know, the kind of heartbreak you have after your first break up. The kind where your entire world is torn apart. Like, you know - how the world literally is being torn apart. With the wars and the planet burning up and all that. Kind of sad. When you think about it.
Mari Qviller wants to tell you the true story of how being dumped led her to walk all alone for 40 days in the Norwegian nature the summer before high school.
You are invited to peak through the window of her childhood bedroom, on a expedition through the worlds largest forest, a little detour to visit the least smelly part of old norse mythology, and a helicopter ride out to the open sea at the edge of the world.
«Breidablikk» combines autobiography, mythical storytelling and satire to break down the heroic story of the Norwegian oil industry.
In 2022 Mari appeared in a commercial documentary campaign for the state owed oil company of Norway. A research paper done after the show concluded that the campaign had made Norwegian youth gain trust in the oil industry’s work to stop climate change.
Is this Maris way of clearing her conscience as a failed climate activist?
