Come and monkey around with Wai-Ling in a hanumanasana, commonly known as forward splits, workshop at Breeze Yoga.This asana, or posture, is named after the deity Hanuman and depicts his legendary leap of faith across the sea. It increases harmony, balance, and raises your spiritual frequency. Mastering this posture requires being open to overcoming the physical, energetic, and psychological barriers it can present.
On a physical level, hanumanasana stretches the entire lower body. Especially hamstrings, hip flexors, quadriceps, and groin. It has abdominal benefits and strengthens the core. Additionally, it improves circulation, strength, and stability around the hips and leg. Awareness and alignment are important part of this deep hip opener.
This posture stimulates two of the chakras, the first being the muladhara (root) chakra which grounds us, brings inner stability, and personal growth. The second is the svadhisthana (sacral) chakra which is the center of creativity, pleasure, and enjoyment.
This workshop will involve prepatory poses designed to open up the body safely, find space, and move towards your version ofhanumanasana. You don't need to be an experienced Yogi or very flexible, this workshop is suitable for all levels. You will be encouraged and supported throughout. It isn't about achieving the full splits, it's about the journey towards achieving it and what we learn on the way. But most of all, it's about having fun.
