Breathwork Meditation

Conscious connected breathwork is a technique that involves deep circular breathing. The technique we teach involves a gradual progression into a controlled hyperventilation followed by a breath hold on an exhale. The rhythmic cycling of the breath hones the mind in on one single task freeing it from wandering thoughts and self-judgment. The breath hold at the bottom allows the stilled mind to finally rest in a deeply relaxed state of awareness. This induces a flow state of consciousness which can release and alchemize blocked emotions and energy in the body into bliss.

About the facilitators: Sunday Sangha Shyam & Hunter
About Shyam:
In 2023, Shyam graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, along with an intrinsic passion for understanding the inner workings of consciousness, and its profound healing capabilities embedded in the brain and body's harmony. Throughout his life, he has studied yogic scripture, but it was not until a series of life-altering events that the scriptures turned into an interconnected reality to which he synchronized his heart and mind through the devotional practice of Kundalini Yoga, Pranayama Breathwork, and Jhana Meditation.
His heart-centered guidance and curiosity has led him to work as a study coordinator at a cognitive neuroscience laboratory at Florida State University, where he is studying the therapeutic brain mechanisms of mystical experiences during deep absorption states of meditation. Using these findings, he is developing safe, novel brain stimulation treatments to heal patients with anhedonic depression by optimizing agency over their bodies to align their actions with their valued intentions. Following his PhD, Shyam dreams of implementing the science of yoga and conscious connected community into a modern framework of healthcare to promote global human flourishing.

About Hunter:
Hunter discovered breath-work and other mindful practices such as asana, mantra meditation and Vipassana in a time of great need. He struggled with depression, paralyzing anxiety, trauma and chronic substance abuse from ages 13 to 18 with very little relief. While he was too afraid and ashamed to open up to the pathways of conventional therapy, his love of poetry and philosophy lead to him to discover a whole plethora of Eastern modalities of healing. These practices have helped him learn how to regulate the nervous system through the breath and also detach from unhealthy conditioned patterns of thought by cultivating a more spacious and compassionate awareness behind them. He got his 200 hr Yoga Teacher Certification last May and has been teaching at community gatherings and in one on one sessions since. By sharing spiritual practices, he intends to invite people to engage in methods of cultivating internal freedom, peace, healing, love and also to explore the vast nature of who they truly are
