Breathwork & Ice-bath Workshop “When you go into the cold, you cannot think. You have to be. You learn to be… to be the best version of yourself.” – Wim Hof
About this Event

It is said that we find ourselves at the edges of our experiences. You can meditate in a lotus position in your sanctuary to find your center, but can you find it when you’re fighting to calm your breath as the cold tries to take it away?

This workshop is for those who are wanting to find a new center at their edge. To find comfort beyond what’s comfortable. To test your meditative skills in an environment most wouldn’t want to go in to.

In this workshop, we will explore the mechanisms of our physiological and psychological experiences, and guide them towards a greater sense of balance within ourselves through breathwork and an ice-bath immersion.

Through this breathwork, we will activate our reserves of energy as well as the body’s natural healing mechanisms. This gives us greater control over how we want to show up in our lives.

The ice is said to be one of the great teachers, and the lesson you receive depends on what you need to learn. Regardless of what is revealed to you in the ice, this is an experience that will challenge you to be present in your body and strengthen your connection to your inner fire.

The first half of the workshop is a guided breathwork session. We will activate the sympathetic nervous system through a style of power breathing called Tummo--a Tibetan Buddhist practice meant to stoke your inner fire by rapid breathing follow by strategic holds to help to increase internal awareness and modulate the nervous system.

In the second half of the workshop we experience dip in an ice-bath. The cold stimulates our body’s fight or flight response, and we will learn to control this response by controlling our breath. Through this practice you’ll gain a greater ability to regulate yourself during extreme stress.

These combined practices have been the subject of many university studies, which support the claims that this practice can:

- Increase Energy

- Reduce Inflammation

- Improved immune system

- Increased energy

- Heightened focus & determination

- Improved sport performances

- Better stress management

- Improve symptoms of depression & anxiety

- Greater cold tolerance

Bio:

My name is Aaron, and I have been practicing the Wim Hof Method since 2018. After a year of personal practice with the method and seeing how much it improved my mental and physical health, I made the trip to Poland to study with the Master in the dead of winter. After that week of making snow-angels in my swim trunks, jumping into the freezing river, and hiking up a mountain in a blizzard; I decided I wanted to teach this method to others and earned my instructor certification in 2019.

Since then, I have guided groups and individuals through breathwork that has helped people grow in their capacities to control their mental and physical well-being. The ice is my favorite thing to help people through. It can be one of the greatest teachers because it tests how strong your inner fire is, where does it come from, what’s blocking it, and how do we wake it the fuck up!

I have had experiences in many different professional disciplines. After studying psychology in college, I taught people how to dance in the wind as an indoor skydiving instructor for over 6 years. While there, I studied health sciences and earned my certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and now I am a massage therapist.

I have always been fascinated by the wisdom within the body. Psychology helped me understand the mechanism by which we experience this world. My health science education brought my awareness of the body to a biochemical level. With that education, I offer my services as a WHM instructor with my understanding grounded in the hard sciences and practical applications.
