Born in El Salvador, raised in Queens, NY Marcela began formal movement training at the age of 10 in classical ballet. She continued her conservatory education at LaGuardia High School for Performing Arts and earned her BFA in Dance Performance from SUNY Purchase College. She performed professionally across the US and in Spain, but it was when she found hot yoga, or maybe when hot yoga found her, that she was home. Hot yoga helped Marcela recover from injuries accrued during dance, work and sports, and she now makes a career of guiding others on their own paths of discovery and healing through yoga. She is currently full time instructor and General Manager of Ritual Hot Yoga (SF)
