Hi Everyone,
I had some requests about organising another Breath Workshop so I have one organised for Friday 6th September from 7pm to 10pm. This is open to anyone age 16+ and costs £20 per person.
You don't have to train in Ju Jitsu or bjj to take part. The workshop is open to everyone.
This will be taught by David Toney who many of you will know as the National Coach of WJJF Ireland. He doesn't just teach Ju Jitsu: he has been teaching Functional breathing courses for many years now to individuals, businesses and various organisations using a variety of methods from butyeko to Oxygen Advantage and others.
Our previous breath workshops had excellent feedback and it is something I have practiced myself and benefitted from for some time.

Breathing is an essential biological function that we often take for granted, but it can also be a powerful tool for improving our physical and mental well-being. Breathwork and breathing exercises have been used for centuries in various cultures for their numerous benefits, including reducing stress, improving sleep, boosting energy levels, increasing focus and concentration, and enhancing physical performance.
Reduces stress and anxiety: One of the most well-known benefits of breathwork and breathing exercises is their ability to reduce stress and anxiety. When we're feeling stressed, our breathing tends to become shallow and rapid, which can trigger the "fight or flight" response in our bodies. This response increases our heart rate and releases stress hormones, which can lead to feelings of anxiety and tension. By practicing deep, slow breathing, we can activate the "rest and digest" response in our bodies, which helps to calm our nervous system and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.

Breathing exercises, such as 4-7-8 breathing, can help slow down the body and mind, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep. Boosts energy levels: Breathing exercises can also be used to increase energy levels. One example is the "power breath," which involves taking quick, deep breaths and then exhaling slowly. This type of breathing can increase oxygen levels in the body, which can help boost energy levels and improve overall mental clarity.
Increases focus and concentration: Breathing exercises can also be used to increase focus and concentration. For example, the "box breathing" technique involves inhaling for a count of four, holding the breath for a count of four, exhaling for a count of four, and then holding the breath for a count of four. This type of breathing can help slow down the mind and increase focus and concentration, making it easier to stay focused on tasks and complete them effectively.
Enhances physical performance: Breathwork and breathing exercises can also improve physical performance. By improving oxygenation, breathing exercises can increase endurance, reduce fatigue, and improve overall physical performance. Additionally, deep breathing can also help to regulate the body's pH levels, which can reduce muscle soreness and improve recovery time after physical activity.
Improves breathing function: Breathing exercises can also help to improve breathing function. For example, diaphragmatic breathing can help strengthen the diaphragm, which is the muscle responsible for controlling breathing.
