
About this Event
In celebration of Breastfeeding Month and Black Breastfeeding Week, Mamatoto Village invites you to Breastfeeding 101: Family Edition, a community-centered, family-friendly, and interactive event designed to support expecting and new parents, grandparents, and caregivers who want to better understand and support breastfeeding.
Held at the beautifully restored Capitol Turnaround, this event will be led by our team of IBCLCs, Certified Lactation Specialists, and Health and Wellness staff who will guide families through interactive learning stations and hands-on opportunities. Topics will include:
- The fundamentals of breastfeeding
- Positioning and latching
- Strategies for overcoming common challenges with confidence
- What to eat while breastfeeding
- Using breastfeeding accessories effectively
- Pumping and bottle feeding basics
- Weaning
- How partners, grandparents, and caregivers can champion breastfeeding
- Culturally affirming approaches to infant feeding and wellness
We’ll provide:
- Light refreshments
- Giveaways, raffles, and community resources
- A joyful space to learn, ask questions, and connect
Please note: There is NO dedicated onsite childcare. We do have a playroom, but you must supervise your children, and they must remain with you at all times. Children over 1 year old must have a ticket.
