Jennifer Brasseur’s Journey with Breast Cancer
Oddly enough, Jennifer found a lump in her right breast after performing last Oct for breast cancer awareness month.
Jennifer went straight to her primary care doctor where they stated she needed to go get a mammogram and ultrasound. The imaging came back the same day stating she had a mass that was 3 centimeters and it was cancerous.
She then was scheduled for a biopsy of her right breast and lymph node right away. The tests came back confirming that she had “Invasive ductal carcinoma, grade 3 of 3 triple negative”. In English means a very aggressive or fast growing cancer.
Jennifer was told she had 8 weeks until it takes over her whole body so they scheduled tests to check her heart and current health status to see if her body could handle the harshest chemo treatment “The Red Devil”.
Tests came back stating she was in good health, she then got surgery to put a port into her heart where they would be placing the chemo treatments through. She then endured 8 weeks of treatments, during this time Jennifer lost her hair and was fighting the fight to stay alive.
The Red Devil treatments proved to work, along with all the prayers and good vibes from everyone, as the mass had now shrunk down so small that even the MRI imagining could not detect.
Jennifer then went under a lumpectomy and lymph node removal surgery, when tests came back they stated, she was now cancer free just 3 months after her diagnosis.
Jennifer feels blessed to be cancer free and is focusing of healing however, preventative measures of radiation treatments and five years of pills and follow up appointments are in her future.
Jennifer wanted to do something special for her husband Ray’s 60th birthday to say thank you for sticking by her side. What better way to say I LOVE YOU then to come out and perform for the first time together again.
