The family of Cathleen (Cathy) Rees are hosting a benefit at Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company (3747 Lockport Road, Sanborn, NY 14132) on Saturday, November 15, 2025, to support Cathy in her battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer.Cathy is a wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated nurse who has taken care of others most of her life. Many people know her from the many years she spent working as a NICU nurse at Children's Hospital. In the early part of 2025, Cathy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She stopped working at the end of April to have surgery and start treatment. After two surgeries, multiple tests and a biopsy it was determined that the diagnosis was Metastatic Breast Cancer Stage IV. The cancer has spread to her bones, there is no cure, and the future is uncertain.
