About this Event

Special event as part of 'Breaking Bread' project - a rare opportunity to access the former Bakers' Almshouses on Lea Bridge Road, originally built for retired bakers and their spouses and now managed by Waltham Forest Council. The board room, which once contained a cinema projector for residents' events, contains fascinating historic details. In this setting you will be able to watch local artist Lucy Harrison's short film 'Bread Makers' (20 mins) and archive 1960s footage from James Crown Bakers, Chingford, and receive a bakery map from the Breaking Bread project.

Just up the road at Lea Bridge Library is Lucy's exhibition of photograhs and archive material, this is open until 7pm and is approximately a 12 minute walk or a bus ride to the almshouses. We will not be providing refreshments at the screening but recommend the European pub which is next door.

The board room is up a flight of stairs and this is the only access to the room.
