Breaking Bread & Barriers: Humanity in the Age of Information SessionPlay a Role in Building Community in Jacksonville!
For more than a decade, OneJax has hosted Civil Discourse conversations and Community Suppers, bringing together people from across Jacksonville—different neighborhoods, cultures, beliefs, and political perspectives. Our Breaking Bread & Barriers series continues this fall with a new focus: Humanity in the Age of Information. Through a sequence of engaging sessions, we’ll invite participants to share thoughtful, respectful conversations about how technology, media, and artificial intelligence are shaping our lives and our community:
Session 1: Filtered Truths — Social Media, Algorithms, and the Public Square
Date: September 16, 2025
In a world where algorithms shape what we see, hear, and believe, how can we remain grounded in truth and stay connected to one another? Join us for a thought-provoking evening exploring the power and pitfalls of social media. From echo chambers to viral misinformation, we'll unpack how digital platforms influence our communities and challenge our civic engagement. Come ready to listen, share, and reimagine what responsible digital citizenship looks like. Whether you're a daily poster or a quiet scroller, your perspective matters.
