Racing begins at 7pm, but come earlier to watch the warm up and rider preparation.Mens and Womens World, National and State Cycling Champions and record holders will vie for the Championship of the Breaking Away Friday night series on June 21st at the Hellyer Park Velodrome, San Jose.
Three exciting, fast paced races for each category will determine the series overall champions. Races included are the same races that will be in the Olympic Games in July in Paris. Races include: scratch, elimination and points.
The racing evening will start with a men’s and a women’s invitational 3 lap sprint. 2 riders in each category will race head to head reaching speeds of over 35mph! Then the mass start racing will begin. These racers are the nation’s elite category – the most skilled and the fastest.
And track bikes have fixed gears (you can't coast) and no brakes!
Entry to this exciting night is free! But the County does charge a $6 parking fee.
