Get ready to dance!!
Coming August 14, we're excited to announce the next 4-week series in Brazilian Zouk, taught by world champion Léo Gomes and assisted by Anna O-H.In this class, we’ll take you through the basics of Zouk, including body movements, footwork, and partner connection.
ABOUT BRAZILIAN ZOUK
Brazilian Zouk is a partner dance developed in Brazil that has been slowly taking over the world! Zouk is usually danced to modern music, and is most known by the deep partner connection, playful footwork and body movements, and the unique head movements.
Zouk is unique for the depth, complexity, and uniqueness of the connection with your partner. To develop this connection, we use a mix of conscious connection and contact improv to understand how to breathe together, walk together, and, eventually, dance together.
ABOUT YOUR TEACHERS
Léo Gomes is a world-renowned Brazilian Zouk teacher. He is most known for his work on Dancing with the Stars, as well as for his achievements as a Two Time World Champion of Zouk and winner of the 2017 Latin Open. He has spent the past decade traveling internationally to teach Zouk in over 30 countries!
Léo is known as a teacher for his ability to combine technical knowledge with fun, laughter, and joy. His methodology pulls from his studies in movement analysis and anatomy, as well as his recent studies in authentic relating and spirituality. He uses a mix of technical expertise and freeform dance styles to guide his students through connecting with the music, their partners, and their own dance.
Anna began dancing Zouk in 2019, and began studying with Léo in 2021 in Brazil. For the past few years, she has dedicated herself to diving into his methodology and understanding Zouk as a dance.
