Come to dance and drum with us!

Join native Brazilian Luciana da Silva to an energized and exciting Samba class learning the basics and beyond of Samba no pé, samba done in Rio de Janeiro. Luciana will take tou tô a journey on the streets of Rio in Samba style.

Drumming Samba without secrets or mistery is the recipe from Nico Jiménez. You will learn how to drum like a Brazilian. Nico will also teach from the base up and help you get into the groove.

About the teachers:

Growing up in Brazil, where music and movement pulse through daily life, Luciana early on recognized dance's magical ability of maintaining traditions making it a ritual, and celebration.

She has trained in many dance forms as Bellydancing, Flamenco, Salsa and Bachata, Afro Brazilian and became very skilled in Samba. She has taught and performed in Europe, Brazil, Mexico and the USA.

She has being a producer of “Viva Brazil Festival” in Colorado for several years working with some of the best artists from Brazil.

She is also an active member of carnaval in Rio performing as a dancer or muse. She has tours for carnaval in Rio and brings people to participate and parade with her.
Nico Jiménez is an international percussionist, clinician, and recording musician from Colorado Springs, CO. He also teaches various percussion ensembles around the world including Tchá Degga Da from Brazil, European X from Holland, and Brianza Parade Band from Italy, among many others. Nico has lived in Brazil for over 3 years, and during his time living in Rio de Janeiro, Nico immersed himself heavily in the native carioca rhythms of Samba, studying with various percussion masters and eventually performing on snare drum in the internationally known Carnaval in 2014, under the direction of Mestre Wallan, He has also spent significant time in Bahia, Brazil and in 2023 he played repique in Carnaval with the prestigious Cortejo Afro under the direction of Mestre Eden Gordon.  Nico holds his Bachelors in Percussion Performance from Adams State University, and currently resides in Denver, CO where he is an active musician and educator.
