About this Event
A special evening to encounter a fresh take on Brazilian pop music with the influences and improvisation of traditional jazz music, all in support of a good cause - sponsoring youth to attend summer camp.
The night will consist of two 45-minute sets, separated by an intermission to grab dessert and coffee/ tea/ soft drinks, available by cash donation.

Fabio Augustinis - Drums
Dr. Fabio Augustinis is a drummer, percussionist, composer, and educator serving as Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at Texas Tech University. He has performed as a guest artist at events like the Gene Harris Jazz Festival, collaborated with major artists and contributed to over 30 albums. He has a debut album titled *Sunrise*. Donald Waugh - Bass
Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Donald started playing piano at 7 and discovered a passion for the bass guitar at 17. After honing his skills at Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, he toured with notable Jamaican bands and performed for many years on cruise ships. He settled in Canada in 2019 and has refocused on producing and composing music, including three solo albums, with a fourth on the way.
Rayne Dias - Piano
Rayne's musical journey, initiated at the age of 8 with the clarinet and later transitioning to piano, has led him multiple degrees in music education and jazz studies, and to record and perform across various genres like Bossa Nova, Samba, Baião, and jazz. Currently, in the Ph.D. program in music education at Western University, Rayne's research has evolved to focus on jazz, popular music and Brazilian popular music.
Carol Blumer - Voice and Percussion
Brazilian jazz singer, percussionist, songwriter, and music educator, Caroline participated as a soloist in the "Conciertos de Navidad" in Havana, Cuba, accompanied by the Soloists Symphony Orchestra of Havana and the Brasilia Symphony Orchestra. She was also the Musical Director and Vocal Coach in important Brazilian musical theatre productions such as "Malandro's Opera", “The Lion King”, “Man of La Mancha”, “Notre Dame of Paris” and others. Alongside her work as a jazz singer and musician, she holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from Western University.
Barry Usher - Saxophone
Barry Usher is a versatile woodwind performer and educator based in London, Ontario. His ability to navigate various styles, ranging from jazz to classical and beyond, has afforded him the privilege of collaborating with esteemed artists and organizations including Phil Nimmons, Rob McConnell, Michael Bolton, Josh Groban, Marie Osmond, Randy Waldman, The Temptations, Robert Davi, Dave Boyer, Orchestra London Canada, the Stratford Festival, Drayton Entertainment Theatres, and the Grand Theatre, London.
